Sniper Elite V2: Not On Your Radar, But Should Be

Gear up soldiers, we are heading back to war in May!

As your bullet reaches your target you are treated to an X-ray kill cam, shown in the trailer above. While it may seem like a rip off of Mortal Kombat, the truth of the matter is that it's a gigantic step ahead. Sniper Elite's X-ray animation's are always generated on the fly ensuring that each shot, and each kill, is unique for each situation. Seeing as how this could very easily become tedious, breaking immersion for players, each shot is assessed through a point system determining what type of kill-cam you recieve. You may get a quick glimpse of a head snapping back, or the full stretched out destructive X-ray shot. It all is dependent on your preparation and execution. After your shots are fired, the enemy AI will react accordingly. Unless of course you use the environment to your advantage. Each level will feature distinct sounds that can be used to mask your shots. The trailer above shows how booming thunder above can be synced with shots in order to mask where you're firing from. These soldiers aren't stupid. If you give away your position they will work together in squads to distract you, while others flank your position. You'll find them scrambling for cover, and this is where you can get creative. Shoot to injure and soldiers may break cover, as they rush to the aid of a fallen comrade. What better reward than lining up two soldiers for one bullet?

Sniper Elite V2 aims to offer those of us that seek a challenge from the flood of fast paced, quick scoping, frag fest military shooters on the market today. Players are allowed to think about their actions and consequences before making a decision. This is a game where patience and careful execution immerses us into the role of a true sniper, and with that comes a great sense of satisfaction. Releasing May 1st in the US, and May 4th in the UK, gear up soldiers looks like we're going back to World War 2 one more time.
