Sony Partnering With OnLive?

Sony moving to clod gaming?

A report surfaced today that indicates Sony may be in the final stages of setting up a cloud gaming service for PlayStation consoles. If the reports are true Sony will be working with either OnLive or Gaikai two different cloud based gaming services, that will provide cloud gaming services to Sony customers. According to the source Sony wants a: €œpartnership deal between PlayStation and a leading cloud gaming service.€ Officially no major cloud based gaming service was named in the report but the two largest and most likely candidates are OnLive and Gaikai. OnLive at this point actually has their own streaming gaming service with a mini-console and gaming controler. While Gaikai has had previous could based gaming deals with major publishers like EA in the past. It is not known at this time whether the deal will be for PS3 or Vita but I would guess to say eventually both as I have a feeling that most gaming companies would prefer to move to cloud based gaming because it would eliminate used games. The announcement is expected to be made at E3 in a couple of weeks. On a scale of 1 to 10 of how likely this rumor is to come true I would put it at a 9; I just think Sony wants to keep up or move ahead of Microsoft (Microsoft already has cloud saving for Xbox 360) and this deal would put them ahead of Microsoft in terms of actual cloud gaming and not just content saving. Whether people even want cloud gaming is another issue entirely. What do you think, do any of you out there want to move to cloud gaming or do you think there are still too many issues with the service?
