South Park is one of those “love it or hate it shows.” But no matter how you feel about it, one thing that is certain though is that the animation is top notch and the up-to-date cultural relevance of each week’s episode shows an interesting perspective on current events.
THQ has just released some new screen shots of the South Park RPG, The Stick of Truth that look less like a video game and more like a real episode of the long-running Comedy Central series.
As you can see from the screen shots, there will be all sorts of environments and enemies that players can expect to encounter throughout the game when they become “the new kid” in the small Colorado community sometime in 2013. One of my favorites (below) has the player pitted against the evil owner of “City Wok” in what looks to be an awesomely, stereotypical, over the top boss battle…cheers to many more of these throughout the game.
Even though the animation may not be as complex as most games based on TV shows or movies, it looks very slick and for a show that started with nothing but cutouts of construction paper and a dream. I think the art style mixed with the active RPG elements (in line with the Paper Mario franchise) are making the game shape out to me something truly exciting. South Park: The Stick of Truth will be releasing March 5th, 2013.
Are any of our visitors South Park fans? If so, are you excited to pick this game up early next year? And for those of you who are not South Park fans, how does the game look to be shaping up? Let us know in the comments below.

I’m a BIG fan of the show, and the game looks to be better than i EVER could have expected it to be. Being able to create a character that is as unique as yourself is very important to me, especially in rpgs, so i’m delighted to see that they’ve taken it in that direction. I’d like to see lots of “the goth kids” in it, and get to kill loads of “douchey vampire wannabe boner(s)”. I think making it look like it’s the tv show itself is ingenious, and i for one can’t wait to play it.
