Super Mario 3D Land Attacked By PETA For Saying "It's OK to wear fur"

'Super Tanooki Skin 2-D'. In the title screen Mario can be seen clutching the bloody decapitated head of a Raccoon, while the game itself has a skinned creature chasing after Mario to reclaim their own fur. It's sort of a mix between Super Mario Land and Hellraiser, so it probably wouldn't go down so well with the kiddies - although it's fun in a crappy flash game kind of way. This bizarre turn of events has even prompted a bemused Nintendo to issue a statement to Eurogamer, arguing that "The different forms that Mario takes make no statement beyond the games themselves" and also suggesting "These lighthearted and whimsical transformations give Mario different abilities and make his games fun to play." Is it simply an odd publicity stunt on behalf of PETA or do you think they've actually got a valid point ? Equally, should Mario be blasted by The Wildlife Trust for his continuous contempt towards mushrooms and flowers, which could encourage the destruction of our natural habitats. Super Mario 3D Land is released this Friday.
