Nintendo have been on a roll lately, pumping out genre-defining masterpieces like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, while drumming up anticipation for big holiday hitters like Super Mario Odyssey. The Nintendo Switch has taken the world by storm, there's no doubt about that, but the big N has been conspicuously quiet about one of its most beloved franchises - Super Smash Bros.
Each Smash title brings with it an assortment of new characters and stages from all kinds of Nintendo games and whatever game comes next in the esteemed series isn't likely to change that. It's only been two and a half years since Smash Bros graced the Wii U (and 3DS), but during that time, a very different Nintendo has emerged.
Since the last Smash Bros was released, we've seen Nintendo let loose on third-party partnerships, reinvent their most stalwart franchises almost beyond recognition and even release a couple of new IPs.
Taking all of this into consideration, what could Nintendo be planning to add to the next Super Smash Bros?
