You know the best part of every year's fourth quarter? Game of the Year debates. And not only them, but more recently, the rise of The Game Awards - which have ostensibly turned into gaming's equivalent of the Oscars, albeit with publishers seizing the opportunity to showcase all manner of new trailers and gameplay footage. The world is watching, after all.

For 2016, we're gearing up for the first in-depth look at Mass Effect Andromeda, and that comes alongside a bevy of topics ranging from Best Studio to Best Art Direction, Best Mobile/Handheld Game and everything in between.

It just has to be Naughty Dog for anything resembling the words "studio" and "best". They're in another league entirely when it comes to coding and conceptualisation - a fact that was proved yet again by Uncharted 4.

In terms of how they evolve and continually push homegrown franchises, for Uncharted 4, Naughty Dog revisited Nate's character to find him in a far more mature and somewhat nostalgic state - rather like that of the Uncharted fanbase (more on that in a bit).

You really get the feeling that Naughty Dog genuinely care about their franchises, and aren't ones for pumping out a sequel just for the sake of it. Even a proposed Jak 4 was canned as it veered too far away from what the series was about, and although many of us were skeptical going into Uncharted 4 in terms of necessity, Naughty Dog proved they've always got fans' hearts in mind, no matter what happens.
