In the months leading up to Skyrim’s release you we’re no doubt ogling the few gameplay videos of the game in action that were available on YouTube. And though we might have marvelled at the inclusion of Dragons, the size and depth of the world or the new and improved graphics, nothing could have quite prepared us for what we ended up getting.
Skyrim isn’t a game you should enter into lightly. It’s not a pick-up-and-play type of experience. In fact to truly maximise your enjoyment of this epic, often macabre and often hilarious fantasy world, it’s necessary to dedicate a good chunk of your energy and brainpower to the time you spend there, which will easily stack up beyond 100 hours.
The main story alone only amounts to a modicum of that time. When you factor in faction quests, side quests, professions and the random quest generator (which will keep going on and on into forever if you let it) you could well be playing for…well, indefinitely.
Yep, it’s safe to say that Skyrim really is a gamer’s game and so in joyous celebration of that, allow us present to you with our 10 favourite quests from the RPG that ate our lives. Oh and careful of spoilers; there’s more here than in an entire convoy of boy racers.

The house of horrors quest is in Markarth not Windhelm.
No Wild Night?! Srsly..
I liked few Rikke and Hadvar (?) quests. Like attack on rebel caravan or raiding tomb in Crown Of Thorns.
Did “The Mind of Madness” yesterday that nets you the Wabbajack staff. This one was great fun, don’t want to spoil it though. Just find Dervenin near the bard’s college.
In The House of the Horrors I chose not to kill him, but neither did he kill me. He’s still there at the tower “researching”. Personally I think he has a fetish for the corpses I left.
Why didn’t you add ” A Night To Remember”? That was easily one of the best quests!
the best was kill the emperator of tamriel, so epic!
I loved “A Walking Nightmare”. That was an incredibly atmospheric and unique quest.
Mine are
1. Forsworn Conspiracy/No one escape Cidhna Mine
I feel so engaging in this quest…it’s like I’m some kind of detective (even more than Blood on the Ice) and then some unknown force try to bring me down…then frame me…then I got a chance to jail-break…
2. Hail Sithis!
Feeling like someone who could change history…from the shadow…
3. Season Unending
Feeling like someone who could change history…as a diplomat…
4. In my time of need
5. Diplomatic Immunity
Crashing the party is fun
6. Discerning the Transmundane
7. A Daedra’s Best Friend
8. Loud and Clear
Feel like a mafia…
9. Battle for Whiterun
10. To Kill the Empire
Over gratuitous use of the word “macabre”. Especially considering that the first use comes immediately after a 6th grade grammar error.
I also wanted to add that I am a pickle smoocher.
