WWE 2K14 Cover Art Featuring The Rock Revealed

wwe 2k14 2K Sports today unveiled the WWE 2014 cover art featuring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The official reveal took place during last night's episode of Monday Night Raw and showcases the brawler in his signature in-ring pose while holding a microphone aloft. The Rock, known as "The People's Champion", lost his WWE Championship to John Cena at Wrestlemania in April and looks pretty mad about it here with a menacing red background forming behind his physical hulking body. To further celebrate the unveiling of the official cover art, 2K are also launching a consumer contest that is offering one lucky fan the chance to create alternate cover artwork to be included with WWE 2K14 retail copies. The Rock said of being featured in the game's cover art:
€œI am exceptionally grateful to be chosen for the cover of WWE 2K14 and serve as the first cover Superstar under 2K€™s leadership. €œI want the cover of WWE 2K14 to electrify the people. I want the artwork to stand out and set a new standard for all WWE video games from 2K, both today and in the future.€
Widely considered one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time, The Rock first came to prominence in the 1990s during the fabled 'Attitude Era' where he faced such rivals as the legendary Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mick Foley. His impressive resume currently boasts eight reigns as WWE Champion, in addition to several reigns as WCW Champion, Intercontinental Champion and WWE Tag Team Champion. He quit the WWE in 2004 to try his hand in the movie business and has appeared in several successful films, including 'The Rundown', 'Be Cool', 'Walking Tall' and 'The Other Guys'. He later returned to the squared circle and won the WWE Championship in January from CM Punk at the Royal Rumble. WWE 2k14 is the first in the long-running series of official WWE videogames not to be published by THQ, who recently filed bankruptcy. 2K Sports gained the licence for the series earlier this year. The game will be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 29 in North America and November 1 in the United Kingdom.
