WWE 2K15's new story mode will not be built around any overarching narrative, according to a report at IGN. Instead the game will be centred around '2K Showcase'. This will be a story mode broken up into two episodes, each one focusing in on an epic WWE rivalry of the past. "Think of them as mini-documentaries of a sort" states Vince Ingenito in his preview for IGN. The reason 2K have done away with a main theme, is because they want to tell a more focused and personal story compared to last year's broader historic narratives. However, many wrestling fans might be dismayed at 2K's new stance. The 30 years of WrestleMania mode on WWE 2K14 was an absolute treat for WWE fans. The episodic history was one of the best aspects of the game. You also had the streak mode, which again offered an enjoyable story based journey. Many of us had hoped that WWE 2K15 would incorporate similar overarching narratives in the new game. 2K15 seemed perfectly poised to have a Sting WCW career mode given his inclusion in the marketing campaign. That won't be the case, although as part of '2K showcase', surely we will get to relive the epic Sting vs Ric Flair feud of the late 80's / early 90's. The game will also feature a dedicated career mode for created superstars. MyCareer is based on the same mode from NBA 2K14, which has subsequently been adapted to the WWE environment. It promises to have properly voiced characters and motion captured cut scenes. However, bad news if you're a PS3 or 360 user, the career mode will be on next generation consoles only. Also released alongside this news is the first photo of in-game action. John Cena tweeted the photo of himself this morning, stating "Normally #YouCantSeeMe, but here's a look at yours truly in @wwegames #WWE2K15!"
