Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way shall we?

We're now just six months away from WWE 2K17's release, and details about the new game are slowly being leaked.

We know that Bray Wyatt, Brie Bella and Alundra Blayze have all been re-scanned for the new game, while there have been an increasing amount of rumours that Chyna will be included following her untimely death last week.

Other than that, WWE and 2K have kept their proverbial cards close to their chests and remained tight lipped on a number of key details for 2K17.

Of course, the main issue that is still up in the air is the subject of the featured game mode. This is what the new title will be built around after all.

You have to think that 2K will keep running with the single Superstar featured game mode after the success of the Stone Cold Steve Austin showcase we were treated to in 2K16. How great was it to go right through the Texas Rattlesnake's career? From his days in WCW until his final match with The Rock at WrestleMania XIX, having a detailed mode was so much more fulfilling than having a number of rivalries skimmed over like in 2K15.

So what about 2K17's featured game mode? Who has had the call and undoubtedly already shot tonnes of motion capture work for the new game?

Here's why it should revolve around WCW...

10. WCW Is Still Relevant In 2016

WWE

Even though it has been a full 15 years since WCW closed its doors, the WWE Universe is still completely infatuated with Vince McMahon's stiffest competition.

You only have to look at some of the more popular programming on the network to see this. WWE have created a series about the Monday Night Wars, JBL has had former WCW supremo Eric Bichoff on his 'Legends With' talk show, while countless WCW pay per views and Monday Night Nitros have been added to the back catalogue of the Network due to popular demand.

Heck, just look at the reaction Sting has received since making his WCW bow at Survivor Series 2014. He is Mr WCW, yet he has proved to be one of the more popular draws of the last two years.

Given the plight of the current product from the viewpoint of many mature members of the WWE Universe, they hark back to the late 90s and the Monday Night Wars as their stimulation for some of the stuff they are forced to sit through in 2016. You can't blame them, it's only the wrestling business at its most popular.
