Your Next Batman Video Game Is... From Telltale?!

It's time for Telltale to step up to the literal Bat.

Were you growing tired of the Arkham series after so many instalments in such a short time? Good, because in one of the biggest curveballs in modern memory, the next Batman game won't be anything even remotely action-heavy, but instead a narrative-driven adventure from Telltale Games, the studios responsible for The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Minecraft: Story Mode and more. Check out the debut trailer below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaPNZ6uF4yQ Telltale's recent output has been pretty shaky, as following the overwhelming success of The Walking Dead's first season, they ended up signing onto everything from adapting Bill Willingham's Fables series into The Wolf Among Us, a Borderlands spin-off, a Game of Thrones tie-in and most recently, a story mode for Minecraft. This led to a pretty noticeable drop in quality as their ageing game engine was stretched over a startling amount of properties and scenarios, yet each franchise did have some considerable high-points regardless. On the bright side, the trailer seems to set the player up as either a member of the GCPD (such as Jim Gordon or a newcomer to the force) or simply a citizen of Gotham going about their day, seeing Batman's actions from another perspective entirely. It'll be very interesting to see how the whole thing plays out, if we even control Batman at all, and if that truly matters to a mainstream audience who have become accustomed to punching villains into paste across the Arkham titles.
