So you thought you’d seen all the Zombies you could take in your life time already, well clear some space in the Zombie cupboard, because competing for attention is the forthcoming ‘Zombeer’ – described as a mixture of Zombies and Beer.
Developed by Moonbite and Paradone Games, Zombeer is a first-person-survival-horror-comedy-shooter aimed at being released on PC, Mac and the Playstation3 by the end of the year.
The story starts in Mexico and our lead character ”K” (probably not played by Tommy Lee Jones) realizes that he has been bitten by one of the shambling undead horde that has, for reasons- ah who cares why, it’s Zombies. So there are Zombies and the main dude is bitten by one, all good standard Zombie fare, but here’s the kicker:
“K” unintentionally discovers that drinking beer slows the progression of the Zombie virus inside of him. The developers warn however that not drinking in moderation will have disastrous consequences, so there is a life lessons here too kids – if you are turning into a Zombie, get smashed…but not too smashed.
“Thanks to our creative team and our background in animation, we’ve designed Zombeer as a horror comedy full of action and beer, which is perfectly true to our tastes.” declared Carlos Fernandez, CEO of Moonbite. “Our team is very passionate about pop culture so the game proudly features many references to movies, comic books and games that we like. We have said that if Zombeer had a fragrance, it would be a mix between Las Vegas and a Tijuana dive bar. We can’t wait to unveil it and feed our fans with more videos and images of crazy and naughty zombies until the game releases!”
Zombeers sounds like a new and interesting take on the traditionally serious genre – barring ‘House of the Dead Overkill’ of course – so we’ll definitely be checking it out when it releases. Maybe the Zombie plate isn’t quite full yet.
See you later this year Zombeer: Zombies and Beers.
