Believe it or not - Cruise & Stiller will team with Levy

cruise_tom.jpgstiller_ben.jpgWhen I said that it would be good for Tom Cruise to do a comedy at this point of his career in order to get back on the good side of the public.... this isn't what I meant. Variety are now confirming that Tom Cruise will star with Ben Stiller for Shawn Levy's action comedy The Hardy Boys. Yes that's right. The rumour that I said last week was "complete bullshit" and followed it up by saying that Cruise "aint stupid enough to join a Stiller/Levy picture" is actually true! Well mark me down as being completely shocked. The site claim the movie's premise will come off a little like Mr. and Mrs. Smith and they describe the plot as.... The Hardy boys, once wunderkind youth sleuths, have grown up. Long estranged, they€™re brought together to solve one last case. Bizarre. This is Levy who directed CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN, THE PINK PANTHER, JUST MARRIED and NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM. The guy who rushes through his movies at 100mphs, giving us no hint or artistic talent in a paint by numbers job. He has somehow even conned Fox into giving him The Flash gig and managed to convince Cruise to star in his movie. Tom Cruise has been notorious for only working with the best directors that Hollywood have to offer for years....so I say it with no exaggeration that this is one of the strangest news stories I have ever had to post. Could it work? Yeah sure, Tom Cruise can do anything and I actually believe that the chemistry between him and Stiller could be dynamite. We all know they are good friends and if it was Judd Apatow helming, then I would be pumped for this movie and saying it was a clever move from those involved. But it's Shawn Levy.... so it's gonna be crap, but no doubt will be popular at the Box Office. source - variety
