The city of Paititi exists in the legends of the Inca people that state its location as being somewhere in the remote rainforests that boarder Peru, Bolivia and Brazil. The legends name the city as being an Inca refuge point and the retirement spot of the hero Inkarri.
Paititis link with lost treasure comes in the wake of the Spanish Conquest of the Incan Capital, during which they stole the Incas gold. However, the amount of gold stolen by the Spanish is believed to have only been a relatively small amount of overall Incan wealth. The rest of the gold is speculated to have been moved to now lost Incan refuge locations like Paititi.
