10 Most Anticipated Horror Movies For The Rest Of 2025
The horror movies that will rule the rest of the year.
2025 has been one hell of a year for horror movies so far, with the likes of Sinners, Weapons, The Ugly Stepsister, Together, Bring Her Back, and so many more delivering above and even beyond expectations. But the year still has around four months to go, and we're swiftly barrelling towards Spooky Season, which, as everyone knows, is absolute prime time for new horror pictures to drop.
So, with that in mind, the following 10 horror films set to release before year's end are by far the buzziest and most anticipated, whether widely lauded at genre festivals already or simply generating hype from the cast and crew involved. While we'll have to wait and see how things ultimately turn out in the end, on paper, these horror movies have the potential to be serious genre bangers.
From avidly awaited sequels to new offerings from rising horror filmmakers and everything else between, these are the features to keep your eyes on over the next few months. If most of them aren't in countless best-of horror lists at year's end, it'll be a huge shock.
10. Shelby Oaks
Shelby Oaks is the feature film debut of famed YouTube film critic Chris Stuckmann, a supernatural horror in which Mia (Camille Sullivan) searches for her missing younger sister Riley (Sarah Durn).
The film premiered at genre festivals last summer to positive reviews, with distributor Neon urging those who've seen it to keep quiet about some of Shelby Oaks' bigger surprises, which has certainly helped stoke anticipation ever since.
In a rare move, Neon also spent roughly $1 million on reshoots to add more gore and violence following the premiere, ensuring that even those who've already seen Shelby Oaks will have something new to check out when it hits general release. On top of all this, the film is executive produced by Mike Flanagan - a hallmark of quality if there ever was one - and considering Stuckmann's clear passion for project, and the horror genre in general, there are many rooting for his first feature film to succeed. Here's hoping.
Shelby Oaks releases on October 3.
