It's been the worst kept secret in Hollywood but at least now
AICN has finally (
almost) confirmed that
Aaron Johnson is "one hundred percent locked" to put on a pair of groovy red visors as Cyclops in
X-Men : First Class. Johnson will share the marquee with
James McAvoy,
Michael Fassbender (Magneto), and
maybe Alice Eve (Emma Frost), who is in-deep talks. The movie is set to explore the early years of Professor Xavier's iconic "school for the gifted". I guess it's a little odd that I didn't enjoy
Kick-Ass as much as the masses did (I really wanted to, trust me), but I know a good movie when I see one and Kick-Ass was definitely a good movie. Aaron Johnson made his role work and from what I've seen, Johnson's a very good actor. I'm sure he'll bring something new to the plate in terms of playing Cyclops, although he won't have a Wolverine to share the leader-versus-rebel chemistry with. I'm liking the way this movie is turning out so far, especially with Vaugn at the helm, although I would have loved to see a villain besides Magneto for a change. Mr. Sinister, maybe? I gotta' ask, though: Didn't we already have a young Cyclops in
X-Men Origins : Wolverine, and didn't we see him get recruited into the academy? I don't mind them ignoring that movie altogether, heck I even support their ignorance, but I'm just saying.
