Adrien Brody in Splice

Oscar winning actor will star in the Guillermo del Toro produced sci-fi horror.

Bloody Disgusting report that Oscar winning actor Adrien Brody will star in the Guillermo del Toro produced sci-fi/horror movie Splice which is set for a 2009 release from Cube and Cypher director Vincenzo Natali. The news has apparently come out of the Toronto International Film Festival. Now I've never seen Cube or Cypher so I can't say I'm all that familiar with Natali, so I think I better skip straight to the Splice's plot...

The film is about Elsa and Clive, two young rebellious scientists, defy legal and ethical boundaries and forge ahead with a dangerous experiment: splicing together human and animal DNA to create a new organism. Named Dren, the creature rapidly develops from a deformed female infant into a beautiful but dangerous winged human-chimera, who forges a bond with both of her creators - only to have that bond turn deadly.
Don't these people never learn? If you are in a movie then the last thing you want to be doing is working on a dangerous experiment. Only bad things like this can come of it! I like Adrien Brody and I've actually thought for a while that he would be great in a Cronenberg psychological horror/thriller which hopefully might happen somewhere down the line. It's not really a genre he has been that immersed in, with only The Jacket on his CV that you could say was a true horror flick.
