Andy Fickman replys to Obsessed With Film...

fh000021.jpgLate last night, I posted a new trailer and poster for The Rock's upcoming movie The Game Plan. Having not been impressed by the trailer (which to be fair, it's not my kind of film) and feeling a little disgusted that the poster was basically a re-hash job of the same one for The Pacifier... and as I'm always one to speak my mind, I said...
"A lazy ass job, for what will be a lazy ass film. If there€™s any justice in the world, it won€™t make any money but you just know it will".
It would seem that comment angered the director of the movie, Andy Fickman. He kindly e-mailed me in regards to the post...
Hey Matty - I sent this and it bounced back so not sure if I am repeating myself - sorry if I am. I just discovered your site as you were posting something on my movie THE GAME PLAN - clearly you guys are HUGE fans of it - well if you're gonna pronounce us as sucking based on a poster or the one-liner - there's nothing I can do about that...but you did call us "lazy ass" - which I would correct sir in that there was nothing lazy about the work my cast and crew did on this family film. We worked hard and hopefully we delivered a film that all can enjoy...okay maybe not all...but you get the drift. Ya' never know you and your fans just might find yourselves liking it as well. Okay - so - just checking in to clarify the misconception that we were lazy in our work and storytelling...we think not. Take care, Andy Fickman
Maybe I was a little harsh calling the movie a "lazy ass job" from what I saw in the trailer. The comedy, I dunno, just felt "awkward" and nothing that we haven't seen before in countless other movies with the same plot. The Rock didn't look all that comfortable in the movie either. Your e-mail to me though Andy has meant I shall definitely check out your film when it comes to my area, something I wouldn't have done otherwise.
