AVATAR suffers a 7 month delay
Variety say that 20th Century Fox have pushed back James Cameron's decade long return to the big screen with AVATAR, from a Memorial Day 2009 release to a Dec. 18th 2009 opening, a delay of seven months. The film is going currently unopposed but it will open around the same time as Robert Zemeckis' next 3D motion picture flick A CHRISTMAS CAROL. The delay is to allow the director a little more time to work on the post-production of the movie and also for Fox to promote AVATAR a little more smartly as more 3D screens will be available by then. Dec. 18 has been a lucky opening day in the past for Cameron. His last movie, the highest grossing movie of all time TITANIC opened on the same day in 1997.
