Choke goes into production, Sam Rockwell cast

choke.jpgChuck Palahniuk might not be a name you recognize but you will certainly know one of the films that was adapted from one of his novels... the awesome Brad Pitt/Edward Norton movie Fight Club. At the moment that is the only novel he was written that has made it to the big screen but the news today is that Film Junk via the author's official website are reporting that his novel Choke has just gone into production, with Sam Rockwell attached in the lead role.
Sam Rockwell will star as Victor Mancini, a sex addict and con artist who pretends to choke on food in restaurants in order to receive sympathy cheques from the people who help save him.
Well it sounds a little wacky but at least it's original. Rockwell too is a fun actor to watch. I really liked his work in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. His delivery of dialogue is pretty much second to none... and if Palahniuk's other novels are anything like the Fight Club movie, then that will be an important factor. Clark Gregg, the screenwriter of that god awful movie What Lies Beneath will be making his directing debut with the movie. Comparisons with Fight Club won't do the guy any favours, so let's hope when the movie gets released they forget about wrote the novel it is based on because with that pressure and expectation... 99% of movies would fail.
