David Goyer runs out of comic book movies to direct
Though he hasn't ran out of supernatural thrillers, but what does this mean for Magneto?
Well, we all thought that David Goyer's pre-strike schedule would be filled working on Magento... the second of two expected X-Men spin-offs to be completed and shown on our screens by 2009. Goyer has been attached to the film for some months, making amendments to Sheldon Turner's original script and no doubt looking at potential actors for his movie. Today's story from The Hollywood Reporter surely changes everything and puts Magneto in doubt as a pre-strike flick. They say that David Goyer will direct a currently untitled supernatural thriller for Rogue Pictures with filming to take place in Chicago next February with Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes company producing. You may remember Dunes are also behind the horror remakes of Near Dark and The Birds.
The script, which Goyer also wrote, follows an 18-year-old who realizes she is slowly being possessed and then begins to fight back.Of course it's going to be impossible for Goyer to helm two movies at the same time, so I just don't see how Magneto can go ahead with him behind the camera? Sadly for Goyer, he hasn't done anything yet to convince me that he has any talent to be a director though I am very fond of many of the scripts he has written... even if they belong and stick to the same rigid formula. His last movie The Invisible played in the same ballpark as this new flick and sadly flopped earlier this year after suffering a couple of release date changes and shocking reviews. Let's hope he learned something from that venture but what we wanna know is... what happens to Magneto?
