Downey Jr. will save THE DAYS BEFORE with Reese Witherspoon

Robert Downey Jr. is in talks to play mankind's saviour in WANTED and NIGHT WATCH director Timbur Bekmambetov's THE DAYS BEFORE, an original sci-fi project setup at Warner Bros. The movie finds the Earth invaded by a race of aliens who travel backwards wiping out humaity one day at a time, "yesterday by yesterday". Each day, kind of like GROUNDHOG DAY, he attempts to convince the world that "the End is nigh" all the while these aliens are slowly taking apart the world. Of course no-one would notice because it's the future past, you get me? Pretty neat concept. Reese Witherspoon is in talks to co-star, so this is a gonna be a huge tentpole pic. With this and Chris Nolan's new movie in development, it's nice to see Warner Bros. spearheading original science fiction screenplays and concepts. The project comes from the mind of by Chad St. John, who previously wrote a Doc Holiday movie for Bruce Willis which has so far been undeveloped. 300 producer Gianni Nunnari is the figurehead according to Production Weekly (via /film). Downey Jr. has picked some ace projects recently and Bekmambetov is a stunning cinematic director. Working off a great screenplay, he could make a movie as good as a Alex Proyas or the Wachowski's. Cool... can't wait to hear more.
