Murphy will play a successful financial executive who suddenly loses his confidence and finds his career going down the drain. He discovers the answers to his problems within the imaginary world created by his daughter. The trade claims the movie to be a comedy, probably because it is written by the duo who penned the two
Bill & Ted movies, but when you look at the premise it sounds like it's a fantasy/drama about a father re-connecting with his daughter. That would certainly be the direction I would take it, and when you hear the following quotes from the movie's producer, maybe
Variety are wrong about calling it a comedy...
"We liked the idea of Eddie playing a role he hasn't played before...He showed a bit of that vulnerability in 'Dreamgirls,' but this gives him the opportunity to tap into that reservoir of talent." Well we know he has played comedy a gazillion times before, so surely this movie must be a serious type drama? Let's hope so. I've always thought that Murphy was far more talented than the movies he has been stuck in for the best part of the last 15 years. The trade claims we should find out who is helming the flick sometime in the next fortnight. source -
