First cast images of J.J. Abrams' STAR TREK!!!
It was this time last year in the run up to Comic Con 07 that Zachary Quinto was cast as Spock, without much fanfare it has to be said in J.J. Abrams' remake/restart/reboot of the four decade old Star Trek franchise That would soon change however when the original Spock (Leonard Nimoy... naturally) made an appearance at the Con itself and was confirmed as a substantial character for the new film, and the buzz started taking off.
Along with Watchmen (which has equally been heavily promoted in the last few hours after weeks of nothing), Star Trek and Iron Man were the big promoters at last year's event. In fact it was Jon Favreau who recently stated that without Comic Con 07, Iron Man wouldn't have been the big success it was this summer Since last summer, a whole lot of green has been spent by Paramount on the picture. A near $150 million we believe, far more than any Trek movie ever put into production, and far more than any Trek film has ever won back in revenue. Now as we edge ever closer to what will now be a Summer tentpole release (next May), it's time to get advertising and spreading the word out which is of course the hardest thing in the world to do with a Trek movie because non-fans, simply couldn't care less. That has always been Abrams' battle. He needs to make this Trek feel fresh and something interesting that the new generation will want to check out. It all begins now and especially with the Con next week. Entertainment Weekly carry what has been a long time coming, the first actual look at the characters from the film... Chris Pine as Captain James T. Kirk. Wow, this guy looks young. Can't see the Kirk factor in this image, he looks like a bland Jock from a high school movie. Terrible photo to use... Leonard Nimoy Zachary Quinto as Mr. Spock. So creepy. Quinto is Spock... Zoe Saldana as Lt. Uhura Yeah, I can see the resemblance. Looks a little mean but I think she will be a very good choice for the role. Erica Bana as the villain Nero Completely unrecognizable as Bana. We've heard this role maybe isn't as big as we previously thought and it's very much the crew of the Enterprise that much of the screentime will focus on. Put all the images together and this is what you get... source - trek movie
