Oliver Stone's late 1980's movie
Wall Street has been green lit a sequel some 20 years after it's release. The original saw
Michael Douglas in an Oscar Winning role as Gordan Grekko, a wall street predator on the brink of prison after his protege Bud Fox (
Charlie Sheen) sold him out. The good news for Wall Street is that Michael Douglas is set to return for the sequel, which will be known as
Money Never Sleeps. Like the title.
Stephen Schiff, the writer of
Clint Eastwood'sTrue Crime will pen the script. Olivier Stone has been offered the director's chair but we understand he has turned it down, so the hunt is on for a new helmer and Charlie Sheen is not expected to return either. I have a feeling a few director's may be interested with the project as Wall Street was quite a popular movie at the time and the chance of directing Michael Douglas must be a draw in the industry. I quite like the idea of this sequel. It will be interesting to see how the character will be portrayed now that he is 20 years older than before and will be placed in a world much different to the one we last saw him in during the 1980's. source -
