Guy Ritchie follows Matthew Vaughn to a comic book property?

Producer Joel Silver says he thinks he will be making Sgt. Rock with Guy Ritchie soon

Joel Silver will be a very unhappy movie producer this morning looking over the financial woe that has been the opening weekend of Speed Racer but it's far from his first flop and he will continue with more and more ambitious projects, we can be assured of that. One of which is Sgt. Rock, the much talked about adaptation of the DC Comic Book character which like many of the companies heroes have floated in a non-existent vortex for too long now. But with the death of the under-cooked Justice League film, some of the other projects may be re-heated into production and served to us soon. Silver tells AICN that he "thinks" he will be making Sgt. Rock with Guy Ritchie soon, though his next response sounded like it shouldn't have said anything...

I hope so. Yeah, um, but, um, I remember at one point it got close. I mean, there were a lot of people attached to SPEED RACER over the years. Um, no real actors. They never got that close.

Ritchie has just completed his latest work - the British gangster movie Rock"N"Rolla starring Gerard Butler, Thandie Newton, Tom Wilkinson and the upcoming Bond girl Gemma Arteton due out in September...

So, you know, this ROCKNROLLA movie I just did with Guy Ritchie is fantastic. It is raw, it is funny, it is dark, it is great. It is great. And I liked his first movie, LOCK STOCK, and I liked SNATCH, and I think it€™s the best movie he€™s ever made.
We know that Ritchie had been working on the script for The Dirty Dozen remake for months now but maybe his desire to do a war picture has landed him with the chance to make Sgt. Rock when the script for that adaptation maybe wasn't working out. Now... Guy Ritchie hasn't been an interesting director for at least seven years now HOWEVER the buzz on his latest picture has been his strongest in a while and if it's not as gimmicky as Revolver and if he plays to the strengths of Gerard Butler as Matthew Vaughn did for Daniel Craig in Layer Cake then he should be somewhere onto getting back on track.
