UPDATED: Is the CLOVERFIELD 2 trailer set to debut this weekend?

A prequel set in the 70's or 80's? We may now know a little more...

UPDATED: The Vulture claim to know exactly what's in the trailer. I would say spoilers below but come on, it's a trailer for God's sake...
Insiders familiar with the trailer tell us that it shows a bunch of kids who are shooting a movie with a Super 8 camera in the seventies or eighties. When they develop the film, they notice that there's an alien creature in the frame. Our sources also say that Super 8 is absolutely connected to 2008's Cloverfield (possibly a prequel, but not a sequel).
Kind of amazing that attached to 'Iron Man 2' will be a new trailer for 'Inception', but it's J.J. Abrams that is getting all the buzz right now.

---------------------ORIGINAL STORY FOLLOWS----------------

According to one hell of an exclusive Drew McWeeny is running at Hitfix, puppet master J.J. Abrams is about to slightly remove the lid on his latest mystery box. A little over three years ago, McWeeney was the first writer anywhere to talk about a mystery handheld trailer that was attached to prints of Michael Bay's 'Transformers', stealing the limelight from a $150 million budgeted blockbuster and was spoken of between those who saw it, long after discussions of heavy robot clunking battles. Simply put, it forever changed movie marketing. It was of course that infamous 'Cloverfield' trailer. Now, Drew is saying that Abrams, the mastermind behind it, has recently produced yet another secret movie which may or may not be a direct continuation of the events of 'Cloverfield', and the trailer will debut this weekend with prints of 'Iron Man 2' in the U.S. 'Super 8' as the working title goes (which in the case of 'Cloverfield' became the real title) is the latest mystery box of a trailer. Abrams has personally directed it with actors who thought they were starring in a teen sex comedy remake, probably in a period old school way (because of the 'Super 8' title). Just like last time, Abrams hasn't worked on the whole film and it's likely to have been (and continues to be) helmed by one of his 'Lost' proteges. Drew doesn't know a great deal about the trailer as of right now, and he really can't say if it is a sequel to 'Cloverfield' yet or another project entirely. We do know that Abrams and his crew have talked about a sequel in length before, so there's a good chance this is exactly that. What we do know is that Paramount are going to great lengths to keep the footage secret until 'Iron Man 2' starts playing this week in the States. Drew says, film canisters have been sent to theatres with an electronic coding device, and the pass for which will only be revealed on Thursday afternoon. Here's a screengrab telling owners the procedure... This of course gives theatre owners very little time for full test runs of the movie before it's midnight showing, allowing the upmost secrecy. It's an unprecedented piece of micro-advertising management from a major Hollywood studio. So for now, all we can do is wait and speculate. It's an exciting scoop from Drew to be sure, and is enough of a tease for a tease that those who see 'Iron Man 2' at midnight on Thursday won't be spoiled by what they see. Sit tight, this one is just getting started.
