Not satisfied with remaking the very cool

Paul W.S. Anderson has now set his sights on re-doing the classic British crime movie
The Long Good Friday. I know, I can't hardly believe it myself. Starring
Bob Hoskins (in easily his best ever performance) and
Helen Mirren, The Long Good Friday was one of the staples of 80's British cinema. For some odd reason, Anderson and Co. think it's a superb idea to move the action for this remake from London to Miami because it would give the story a "refreshed" modern setting. The chairman of Handmade Films, the company who are producing the movie, had this to say to the
BBC (via
AICN)...
"Following continued interest from the US, we realised this remake could attract audiences worldwide with an updated setting and contemporary overtones. "When Paul presented his creative vision for this project, we were instantly convinced that this is a story that could be successfully refreshed, yet leave the integrity of the original intact."
Ok. So your remaking an awesome movie but your changing it's setting from London to America and updating the story in a new and refreshing manner? Why not just make a god damn new movie and not a stupid remake with the same title? Make a homage movie by all means but not a remake. This Anderson guy is really starting to bug me now.
