Joss Whedon wants nothing to do with the new BUFFY movie!

So I've been fairly lax with my updating of new stories for about a month now, and for that I apologize but honestly I've found it so hard to stay positive about the movie industry in this current climate. There's a severe lack of imagination by studio execs right now, it's frightening. So many crazy assed decisions that in any other line of business just wouldn't be tolerated, but because it's Hollywood people can allude themselves into thinking they have hit a goldmine idea, when really it's just closed box thinking. Like most things in life, we might not see the real knock on effect from these decisions for another six or seven years but once the butterfly effect is complete, the damage will be so severe I think summer box office takings will drop RAPIDLY and the age of the franchise will suffer. Surely we can't go on with Terminator Salvation's and X-Men Origins: Wolverine's for much longer. Don't we have more respect for ourselves than that? Predator reboots, Alien reboots (haven't we spent enough money on these franchises by now?), and the most insane of all being a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot announced two weeks ago which is being made without Joss Whedon or any of the original cast or crew. Presumably it won't be about Buffy but a new generational slayer. The insane factor being that a big screen movie with Joss Whedon and starring Sarah Michelle Gellar (who let's face it, pretty much needs this movie right now) would probably make several hundred million dollars. The fans of this series (including me) are uncommoly faithful and loyal for Whedon, and would come back in their drones to see the character on the big screen (they already do it regularly in comic book form), especially in this post-Twilight and Let the Right One In world where there is a large interest in this genre once again. Hell, even the Underworld movies keep making money. After the unequivocally negative reaction to the plans for a new movie (a Popwatch poll at EW claims only 3% of voters would see a Buffy movie not made by Whedon), the producers finally sought out the guy who started it all when he was just 19, but he tells Entertainment Weekly that wisely he wants absolutely nothing to do with it...

"I believe did ultimately reach out to my agent after the news broke," €œI think that's something better left untouched by me,€ Whedon tells Entertainment Weekly. €œSo I wish them luck.€
Which is a decision I congratulate because as we know this is Whedon's baby and for him to turn down making a big movie out of his creation AND of course to stop anyone else fucking up with his baby must have been tempting. And honestly, thank God this has happened now and not two years ago before Dollhouse, before Cabin in the Woods (which he finished filming two weeks ago, just as this news broke) because he's found a creative niche again which doesn't require him looking back to his past creations. Having said that. I would be the happiest guy on the planet if....
A) Whedon was to make a big screen Buffy movie, or t.v. series set after the events of Season 7. B) Whedon was to make a Faith T.V. spin-off. C) Whedon was to make a new Buffy based on a new Slayer BUT completely from his own imagination. D) Whedon was to make a show based on Anthony Stewart Head's character Giles (which went by the name Ripper went Whedon originally discussed the idea) with regular cameo's from other Buffy characters.
But no Whedon, no money from me, EVER!
