Keira Knightley in MY FAIR LADY

Keira Knightley is to again make us believe she is from a completely different era who has time travelled into the future to live in the 21st century. Looking at her filmography, only 3 of her last 13 movies (if you include her two upcoming films The Duchess and King Lear) have been set in the modern day. The rest are all period flicks. As is this one... My Fair Lady for Columbia Picture.

While it's being called an update, the film will use the tuner's score and retain its 1912 setting. Where possible, Kenworthy and Mackintosh intend to shoot the film on location in the original London settings of Covent Garden, Drury Lane, Tottenham Court Road, Wimpole Street and the Ascot racecourse. (The 1964 Warner Bros. film was lensed entirely on Hollywood soundstages.) The filmmakers plan to adapt Alan Jay Lerner's book more fully for the screen by drawing additional material from George Bernard Shaw's play "Pygmalion," which served as the source material for the musical. The goal is to dramatize the emotional highs and lows of Doolittle as she undergoes the ultimate metamorphosis under the tutelage of Professor Henry Higgins.

It's produced by the makers of Love Actually and Notting Hill but it's unknown if it will be adapted as a musical, allowing Knightley to show off her vocal talents further than she did briefly in The Edge of Love.
