Mark Millar says director in place & casting has begun for KICK-ASS

Is Matthew Vaughn directing the movie or not?

Nine days ago we heard what looked to be an absolute solid rumor from AICN that Matthew Vaughn would be directing an adaptation of Mark Millar's brand new monthly comic book series Kick-Ass (only started in January) as his almost prep movie for Marvel. His ground work before the studio will finally let him loose with a big budget on Thor.

Today comes word from Millar via Newsarama that a director is already in place (which fuels this rumor even more) and that some casting has been made...
I can't confirm or deny any director at this stage. Sure, Matthew and I are friends and I think Layer Cake and Stardust tie with 28 Days Later as the best British films of this decade so having him onboard would be amazing. But at this stage I can't even give you a little wink, except to say that the director is already in place and we're looking to rapidly go into production once we're finished a polish on the final script next month. Some casting has already been worked out too, but I can say nothing beyond this annoyingly vague statement.
Gotta be Vaughn right? Give me the choice of this extremely exciting director sitting on the sidelines waiting for Marvel to give him the greenlight with Thor or instead directing a cool sounding, smaller and more grounded superhero movie right now... and I know what I will choose each time. If Millar is telling the truth then I would expect to hear some more on this very soon. source - coming soon
