MEN IN BLACK writer hired for Cruise/Stiller's HARDY MEN

Despite Tom Cruise lining up two thrillers that should keep him occupied until the end of 2009, he still remains very much attached to the outrageous comedy THE HARDY MEN, a movie he hopes to make with Ben Stiller and his NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM director Shawn Levy. The Hollywood Reporter say MEN IN BLACK and CHARLIE'S ANGELS writer Ed Solomon has jumped on board the project to re-write the comic riff on the classic young-adult mystery novels THE HARDY BOYS, about two brothers who solve crimes. The comedy setup at Fox 2000 has been in development for years and Solomon's hiring is just the latest in a long string of re-writes. The movie adaptation is to find the former amateur detectives as now fully grown-up and estranged brothers who come together to solve a new mystery. I say awesome that Cruise wants to do a comedy (it will be good for him) but not so awesome when you see the people he wants to make it with. There's way funnier people out there Tom and I'm certain they would be dying to work with you.
