Owen Wilson & Jennifer Aniston team for Marley & Me

15.jpgShe's at it again. Jennifer Aniston has signed up for yet another comedy, this time alongside that moron Owen Wilson. Talk about two actors who can only play one role! The movie in question is Marley & Me, a Fox 2000 production of John Grogan's best selling memoir about living with his bad dog for 13 years. The movie will be helmed by The Devil Wears Prada director David Frankel after Shawn Levy pulled out, when it looked like it was going to be his next movie. No reason why Levy is out but production isn't set to start on this movie till next year so the delay probably had something to do with it and Levy's got a few irons in the fire already.
Marley is the yellow lab adopted by Grogan, a columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, and his wife. Their idea was to give them a taste of parenthood, but the dog proved to be a hyperactive handful. He wreaks havoc, gets kicked out of obedience school and gets even worse when the children begin to arrive, yet becomes an indispensable part of the family.
Owen Wilson is an automatic red flag for me, so I won't be seeing this. The movie seems like a pretty smart move for Aniston whose career really isn't going anywhere and starring alongside Wilson usually results in a big box office opening. Only hope for the flick is that bizarrely Scott Frank is writing the latest draft of the script. He's wrote some good stuff in his time like Minority Report, Get Shorty (ya know it ain't a terrible script) and most recently The Lookout which also directed to great acclaim, so you would have thought this project would have been beneath him. source - variety
