Paramount splits with Tom Cruise

tom-cruise-1.jpgThe biggest news story of the day is that Tom Cruise and his production company Cruise/Wagner have been dumped by Paramount, ending a 14 year relationship. The deal had been one of the most lucrative in Hollywood, but has been ended because according to Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone "His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount". Cruise/Wagner will now setup their own indepedant production company and fiance their own movies. Folks, don't listen to some of the media outlets who are saying this is "the end of Tom Cruise". His last movie Mission Impossible III made $393 million dollars worldwide so far showing that even with all the controversy of his personal life he is still one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood today. So what do you think? The beginning of the end for Tom Cruise, or will he be able to make and finance a succesful movie for himself on his own? He currently has no acting roles lined up in the near future, so it will certainly be interesting to see where his career goes next. source - dark horizons, reuters
