Peter O'Toole grabs his palette for The Christmas Cottage

gt.jpgPeter O'Toole's 8th attempt at winning an Oscar statue last year saw him walk home empty handed once again, when Forest Whitaker got the nod for his performance of a lifetime as General Idi Amin Dada in The Last King of Scotland. After 7 Oscar nominations resulting in no wins... The Academy did give him an honorary Oscar in 2003, which although a wonderful moment for the actor... it pissed him off because he felt he still had plenty of roles left in him to win the award for himself. He soon went out and scared Brad Pitt to death with his acting in that wonderful scene in Troy, which showed the huge gulf between a "good actor" and a "great actor". His performance in that epic went slightly over-looked, so he went out and starred in Venus, remarkably winning himself his 8th Oscar nod, proving on his word that he still had it in him to be an Oscar contender. O'Toole is 75 in August, but that's not stopping him lining up movie roles. The latest film he has signed up for is Lionsgate's The Christmas Cottage, based on a Thomas Kinkade painting. The movie is set to focus on Kinkade's life as a painter..... with O'Toole playing painter Glen Weissler, who was one of Kinkade's mentors. Production is set to begin this month in Vancouver and Whistler, with Michael Campus directing but no other cast members have been announced as of yet. Go on Peter.... steal the show for us once again. source - the hollywood reporter
