Ridley Scott tackling Russell Crowe's Nottingham!

ridley-scott.jpgThat revisionist Robin Hood movie with Russell Crowe has got a whole lot more interesting. Variety are reporting that Ridley Scott has been hired to direct the movie, which we simply know as Nottingham. The movie will mark the FOURTH time Ridley Scott has directed Russell Crowe. The first time saw Crowe win an Oscar and Scott receive a nomination for the first real classic of the new century with Gladiator in the year 2000. They had rather less success with their second pairing towards the end of last year, as the comedy movie A Good Year flopped with both critics and audiences. In November, their third pairing, the crime drama American Gangster will be released which has been spoke about as having real Academy Award potential and has a real A-Star cast.
Crowe stars as the Sheriff of Nottingham in a revisionist take on the Robin Hood tale, with Nottingham as a noble and brave lawman who labors for a corrupt king and engages in a love triangle with Maid Marion and Robin Hood.
Variety report that Scott will first helm the thriller Body of Lies with Leonardo DiCaprio before tackling this project. Hopefully Scott re-shooting bits of Blade Runner have sparked the Ridley Scott of old, and not the one we have been stuck with for the last few years.
