Robert Rodriguez turns down CLASH OF THE TITANS

Rodriguez loves the script, but in the end he turns down WB's remake.

With the upcoming strike, any script that is completed are immediately put in the front line for pre-strike fodder for studio's and it certainly looks like the remake of Clash of the Titans is one such film. At this point the movie is looking to begin production early next year and yesterday there was rumors at Latino Review that Robert Rodriguez was offered the chance to direct the epic blockbuster for Warner Brothers. The only problem of course is that Rodriguez is busy trying to get Barbarella off the ground with his fiancee Rose McGowan in the lead role for Universal, a casting choice that has gone a long way to stall that movie. Rodriguez had to turn down the offer, despite loving the script from the writer of The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark (Lawrence Kasdan) says AICN. Sam Raimi had heavily been linked with the remake some while back but he's busy mulling over the rest of his career. Warner Brothers decided to turn to Rodriguez, the man they originally went to with a Jetsons movie (which Rodriguez turned down) and Land of the Lost (which WB yanked away from Rodriguez and went with Brad Silberling). I do like Rodriguez, but I can't help but feel he isn't the right guy for this. To be fair, there are very few who would get me interested in a remake of the awesome Clash of the Titans... Sam Raimi was one of them, and I think a name that's not his will not impress me from this point on. Maybe Gore Verbinski would be a good choice come to think of it. He's already done his Kraken...
