Intriguing news concerning the
Clash of the Titans sequel has hit over the last few days. Firstly - that the movie will be titled
Wrath of the Titans, which is only 50% perfect as clearly Wrath of the Gods would be more immense sounding. But I guess having 'Titans' in the title is easier to sell as a direct sequel. Second interesting tidbit, well more of a rumour actually, comes from
Production Weekly who suggest that
Javier Bardem (As Ares, the God of War) and
James Franco (as Agenor, son of Poseidon) are topping the studio wishlist for two major new roles. Of course topping the studio wishlist is a long way from securing names (otherwise every movie in town would be led by the same six actors, leaving no work for the
Thomas Janes' of this world) but it shows the ambition of Warner Bros. who can at least back-up the fact they pulled off
Liam Neeson for the original. Though having said that, they have settled on
Jonathan Liebesman (TCM: The Beginning) to helm the sequel and
nearly everyone at the studio has had their two cents on the screenplay.
Sam Worthington and
Gemma Arterton are expected to return when filming on the Titans sequel begins early next year, and I should think Neeson, Fiennes and a few of the other supporting players that survived the original will also return.
