Steve Carell embarks on THE ADVENTURES OF BRIGADIER GERARD

SHERLOCK HOLMES creator Arthur Conan Doyle's lesser known characterBRIGADIER GERARDis to be adapted into a Steve Carell vehicle over at Media Rights Capital, if the studio can convince the actor this project is one of two projects he should make during his break next year on The Office. The movie is eyeing a early 2009 start and will take the light hearted Napoleonic character and transform him into a studio comedy from the writers of BLADES OF GLORY. From Variety...

Carell will play the title character, the bravest soldier in Napoleon€™s army and also the dumbest. Gerard follows Napoleon from his rise to power to his permanent exile.
Basically, it's GET SMART but set in the Napoleon era which might put him off repeating himself so soon even if he does like the idea of the movie. The other projects he has to choose from are a GET SMART 2 (which I guess would be repeating himself completely), the rom-com DATE NIGHT with Tina Fey from director Shawn Levy and Carell is said to have some ideas of his own he wishes to explore.
