Tarantino continues to tease. He says INGLORIOUS BASTARDS will be at Cannes 09!

Over-ambitous excitement, the whole truth or a blatant lie from the often eager Quentin Tarantino at Cannes?

Quentin Tarantino claims he has finished writing his ensemble World War II drama Inglorious Bastards, an epic movie he has wanted to direct since he finished his work on Jackie Brown over ten years ago but temptations to other projects and simply a hard time coming up with a final draft he was happy with has stalled it to this point in 2008. We know for at least the last 12 months (whilst he was on tour promoting Death Proof around the world) he has been working exclusively on making Inglorious Bastards as perfect as possible and it should come to no surprise to anyone that he is almost ready to go on the picture. Ambitiously however, he has revealed he wants the movie ready to premiere at next year's festival.

The next movie I'm doing is my World War II movie. I just finished up the first draft and if ALL GOES WELL, I will be here, in Cannes, in 2009 with INGLORIOUS BASTARDS!
Which of course means it needs to shoot very soon, especially considering it's length but who would star? Well I have a feeling Tarantino might go for a Dirty Dozen... 12 veteran actors to make up his cast. We know Michael Madsen will be in it, and we've heard Tim Roth's name mentioned frequently with the film. We all would love to see Arnie/Stallone/Willis but that would seem to be more of a dream than grounded in reality. Eddie Murphy has also become the topic of much discussion, as if he is going to be the career Quentin will "save" as he has been known to do in the past. We should know soon if Quentin is telling the truth because a 12 month schedule to get this cast, shot and edited for Cannes will mean work has to begin immediately if it has any chance at all of reaching that deadline. source - joblo
