Tom Cruise replaced by Angelina Jolie in SALT!

Phillip Noyce's movie will now be lead by a sexy female!

Soon after Tom Cruise ended his interested in starring in the C.I.A. espionage thriller Edwin A. Salt, a number of high profile Hollywood actors were said to be interested in what is described as an A+++ script from writer Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium, The Recruit). I remember the name of Will Smith quite strongly. But once Angelina Jolie got her hands on the script and loved it, Columbia Pictures couldn't help but think of a sexier adaptation, a one led by a rare and credible female action star who helped Wanted earn $128 million domestic. Wimmer is currently re-drafting his script, to accommodate Jolie as a female lead.

Phillip Noyce who worked with Jolie on the 1999 crime thriller The Bone Collector but is more famous for directing the first two Jack Ryan pics with Harrison Ford, is still attached as director. The movie revolves around a CIA officer who's accused by of being a Russian sleeper spy, and is on the run, attempting to prove her innocence. Obviously a new title is in need, the project is no longer about a guy named Edwin A. Salt. It's expected this movie will mark Jolie's return to film after giving birth to twins source - variety
