Tom Cruise to instigate a FOOD FIGHT

Loosely attached to play a snooty New York Chef in warmhearted comedy.

Finally, Mr. Tom Cruise is taking my advice and moving back into the comedy realm. IMO, it is the quickest way to banish his bad name right now and I think his recent (and supposedly hilarious) cameo in Tropic Thunder shows that he is not ignorant of the fact either. The Hollywood Reporter say Cruise is LOOSELY attached to the movie Food Fight, a warmhearted comedy where Cruise would play a snooty New York Chef who is forced to cook meals at a school cafeteria.

The Universal/Working Title production will be written by Adam Brooks (writer/director of Definitely, Maybe) with no director attached after talks with Steve Brill (Without a Paddle, Drillbit Taylor) thankfully broke down.

So it's hardly a Judd Apatow or Ben Stiller comedy I have been heavily advising Cruise to make for at least two years now but it's definitely a step in the right direction. If you have seen Cruise's really early career work such as Risky Business, you will know he has terrific comedic timing and he can play such a likeable lead in this kind of movie.

He can make us laugh our way back onto his good side. Food Fight may be a little softer a movie than I would like... but this will do more for his career than a C.I.A. thriller with Phillip Noyce.
