Transformers Treatment Leaked?
A 13-page document that outlines the Transformers sequel is online. Is it real? Judge for yourselves.
Michael Bay believes making a movie is like going to war. I believe watching a Michael Bay film is like fighting in, and losing one. Nevertheless, he'll probably need to take that attitude into TRANSFORMERS 2 because Paramount and Dreamworks only hired the writing team last week and they need to get the script done, get the film prepped, cast and shot before June 31st next year. That, my friends, is rushed! Should the writers strike actually happen on November 1st, as Variety suggests, then a sequel to TRANSFORMERS won't happen. That is unless the writers can get a shooting script turned in, approved and budgeted in three weeks! The movie's fate aside, an extremely interesting document has popped up online that purports to be a treatment for TRANSFORMERS 2. I've not read the thing but it looks pretty genuine to me as it carries a coded tag, a sure sign that it's been through studio hands. Producer Don Murphy is adamant it's not real but I wouldn't expect him to admit it if it were. My take: this could be the treatment that Ehren Kruger came up with to get the co-writing gig on the movie. Writers will often work up a "pitch document" to give the studio an idea of where they want to go with a movie. They don't get paid to do it, it's just smart to do so as it gives the studio execs opportunity to pass the thing around and get feedback. I wasn't particularly enthusiastic about the first TRANFORMERS film - I felt the heart of the movie was with Shia and Bumblebee and all that Sector Seven/Military/Hacker crap was pointless, it weighed the whole thing down and they really should drop all that for the sequel. However with Bay back in charge I expect the American military to be back in its full jingoistic force! Remember, this is the guy who filmed the attack on Pearl Harbour from the point of view of a bomb so it's pretty clear his interests lie with hardware and not characters. Head on over here to download the treatment. Don't say we never give you anything! source - iesb, don murphy
