Zak Penn writing ARGONAUTS

New take on the legendary Greek mythology fable.

Yet another movie about Greek mythology has been put into the works. X-Men 3 and The Incredible Hulk scribe Zak Penn will write and produce a movie about the legend of Jason and his Argonauts over at 20th Century Fox. The movie will not be a remake of the classic 60's movie which featured the classic monsters of Ray Harryhausen but instead will be Penn's original take on the classic fable according to Variety.

For those who haven't seen one of the greatest adventure movies of all time or who were never taught the story at school - the legend goes that Jason and his band of heroic and loyal sailors accompanied him on a perilious journey to Colchis in his quest to find the Golden Fleece and reclaim his father's kingdom.

Jason was up against the Gods (particularly Zeus) who continually challenged his stamina and willpower, the name "The Argonauts" comes from the Jason's ship "The Argo".

The movie will compliment the several other Greek mythology tales including the 300 sequel War of the Gods, the Clash of the Titans remake, God of War, the three Hercules adaptations currently in production and other sword and sandal epics such as Conan, Red Sonja, Thulsa Doom and Prince of Persia.

For a dead genre... or at least a genre that was declared dead when Alexander, King Arthur, Kingdom of Heaven and Troy all disappointed in the space of 12 months a few years ago, there's a lot of studio's taking a big gamble here.

LOOOOOOOVE the original 1963 movie, one of my all time favourites. Without Harryhausen's tremendous stop motion work, you have to go CGI and those skeleton warriors, the bronze statue, the madusa won't ever look as cool.

Don't bother with this Zak... your better off trying to convince Fox into moving ahead with a X-Men 4.
