As a music junkie, I tend to stumble across artists that somehow fly under the radar despite having absolutely amazing musical talent. I’d like to spread the talent of those amazing artists by telling you that you need to check them out!
Here’s the first of many lists of 10 must-have albums, in no particular order…
10. Simple Times – Joshua Radin
Joshua Radin is a phenomenal artist. He has a soothing voice, beautiful harmonies, and heartfelt lyrics. His music constantly amazes, and he has a very strong following that proudly supports him.
Simple Times is packed with incredible songs, some of which are radio hits like ‘I’d Rather Be With You’ and ‘Brand New Day’. The entire album is solid, with excellent vocals and consistent yet unique sounds that make Mr. Radin stand out from other singer/songwriters.
Mr. Radin has such a distinct voice that soothes the mind. There is an obvious sense of calmness in all of his songs, but somehow he sparks a sort of excitement in the listener – not putting them to sleep, but rather cheering them up. Mr. Radin understands how music works, and he uses that understanding to his advantage in creating some of the best love songs and sweetest tunes.
If you haven’t already, check out Simple Times. Here’s one of the songs on the album, ‘We Are Okay.’

Wow dude…your taste is pretty limited and most of these artists are well-known and not respected amongst the nerdiest of music nerds. You should check out rateyourmusic.com and see how low the scores are for those albums in this article…and while you’re at it, get some recommendations from the site’s enormously informative database. Pick a genre that you think you’d like and start listening to the top rated albums of that genre. Then branch out from there. Or just start with the top rated albums of each decade. Hope this helps you begin a truly magnificent musical journey!
That’s the great thing about music – it’s SUBJECTIVE. May not be what you like, but never slag someone else off for liking it. Though would have to agree that iTunes probably ain’t the best place to find new music…
If you are going to label something as “must have” then surely it should surpass taste and be worthy of universal praise, which these ain’t.
An average list for the average Top 40 Charts music listener. Should be named “10 Recent Must-Have Albums”. Anyway you forgot to mention a lot of classic popular bands but recently I’d go for ‘Illnois’ by Sufjan Stevens and ‘Innerspeaker’ by Tame Impala.
