Sheffield four piece rock outfit Blue Lip Feel kick off their first major UK tour this week in the steel city they grew up in, and with a new EP currently in the works, well 2012 looks set to be a crucial year for the band. Formed in the tail end of 2010 they worked with hallowed Sheffield producer Alan Smyth (Pulp, Arctic Monkeys) on a four song EP named Shallow Getaway, which showcased their unique, enchanting sound whilst placing them at the fore front of the Sheffield music scene. Blue Lip Feel€™s debut EP (which can now be found on iTunes and Spotify) contained the catchy, crowd pleaser €˜Tulips To The Top€™ and the stupidly rocking stadium-sized €˜I€™ll Never Know Who€™ an enigmatic collaboration with Sheffield rapper Nate. This indie rock band channel their influences of The Strokes, Kings Of Leon, Phoenix and The Doors through warbling guitar riffs and infectious, heartfelt vocals resulting in a kind of British Black Keys, promoting the American rock€™n€™roll ego yet with pure British sensibilities, it€™s a perfect combination. The EP lead on to supporting gigs with Tribes, Kassidy and Various Cruelties which then landed them a slot on Kent€™s First Days Of Freedom festival (which featured The Mystery Jets, Ed Sheeran and Professor Green to name but a few). 2012, and the band look set to continue pushing their sultry sound across the breadth of England, with a larger tour scheduled and a greater EP in the making, Blue Lip Feel are one band to look out for.
