Pop music - reviled by some, beloved by many, acknowledged by... well, everyone. It doesn't matter if your musical tastes lie towards rock, R&B, hip-hop, dance, metal or any other of the numerous musical genres and sub-genres that make up the world of music. 'Pop' however, often considered a dirty and uncool term in music today, remains alive and kicking as an unapologetic statement about this all-encompassing branch of music. Recently, there's been a big influx of pop music into the charts - from the LOLpop dance anthems petitioned by acts like Kesha, David Guetta and LMFAO, to the rush of electropop tunes that arose in the mid-2000s. Fortunately, there's also been enough pop singles and albums to actually warrant competition, rather than a couple of acts alone flying the pop flag - even in 2012, we've had our fair share of impressive popstars and albums who have returned to the field to raise the profile of pop music once more, such as superstar legend Madonna's
MDNA (see above). So, here are my five choices for the best pop albums of 2012 (so far). Enjoy...
