The voice of Simba in Disney's "The Lion King", and also known for his roles in "The Producers" and "Inspector Gadget", Matthew Broderick is an extremely successful American actor. However, in 1987, the American was involved in a car crash in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, in which two people were left dead. On holiday with his girlfriend Jennifer Grey (pictured above, left, after the crash), Broderick (pictured above, right) was driving a rented BMW when he veered across into the wrong lane and collided front-first into an on-coming Volvo. The Volvo driver Anna Gallagher and her mother Margaret both died instantly as a result of the heavy impact, while Broderick suffered a broken leg, fractured ribs and a collapsed lung. Broderick could not explain what exactly happened and why he had been in the wrong lane, saying: "I don't remember the day. I don't remember even getting up in the morning. I don't remember making my bed. What I first remember is waking up in the hospital, with a very strange feeling going on in my leg." Although charged with death by dangerous driving, Broderick was instead convicted of the lesser offence of careless driving and fined just $175 - something which the victims' family blasted as a "a travesty of justice".
