10 Hollywood Stars You Didn't Know Were Real Life Heroes

8. Harrison Ford Rescued Two Stranded Mountaineers In His Helicopter

Few stars have played such legendary screen heroes as Harrison Ford, whose performances as Indiana Jones and Han Solo surely put him at the top of the table; true icons of Hollywood action movies. While he may be getting too old for the physical demands of on-screen heroics these days, he's proven his willingness to step up to the plate in real life not just once, but twice. When Sarah George and Megan Freeman found themselves stranded high up the 11,106 foot Table Mountain after George succumbed to the debilitating effects of heat, altitude and dehydration, another hiker had to call for help. In stepped Harrison Ford with his Bell 407 helicopter, flying to the rescue and taking them to safety - but not before George had vomited in his helicopter. Less than a year later Ford came to the rescue of another stranded hiker, this time a 13-year old boy scout stranded in Yellowstone National Park. Flying from his ranch in nearby Jackson, Wyoming, Ford flew over the park and spotted the cold, wet and hungry teenager and reportedly quipped, "Boy you sure must have earned a merit badge for this one." Who says you need a screenwriter to deliver one-liners?
