14 Reasons Your 20s Are Just Like The Lord Of The Rings

And you thought Frodo getting the ring to Mount Doom was hard...

Lord Of The Rings, regardless of it's multiple subplots, is essentially a tale about a quest. It is the quest of one person trying to follow a complicated path which they're not entirely sure is the right one for them. It is the moral dilemmas of right and wrong choice, and the making of decisions which may or may not affect life in the future. It is finding out the true essence of a person, and what they are really capable of. It is a story of bravery, heroics, survival and friendship. Does this sound like your twenties or what? Ok, so it might seem a little over the top, but honestly, have you even realised how many parallels run between between your years of being a twenty-something and the Lord of the Rings trilogy? Haven't you ever inherited a bit of jewellery and turned to a friend and identified your new found treasure as 'the precious?' Or compared you and your BFF's relationship to that of Sam and Frodo? Or even considered your grandfather in the role of Gandalf at one point? It's nothing to be ashamed of: your favourite films often subconsciously act as life models; and LOTR is no exception. Even if you're not trying to save the world from an imminent evil force, or fighting off mutant spiders, or finding yourself frequently at the hands of death in the form of orcs riding crazy weird elephants, there are still plenty of ways that your years of being twenty are surprisingly reflected in the fellowship's quest to get the one ring to Mordor.

I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
